About the event

Father’s Day celebrations evolved over time. What was initially a weekend of baseball games between the men of Frenchtown and Northside with eating, drinking and camaraderie morphed into a 3-day village carnival. The Moby Dick committee, whose elaborate entries competed annually in our local Carnival parades transformed the parking lot in Frenchtown in 1971. Our first elected Governor, Melvin Herbert Evans, cut the ribbon to the Village complete with dedications to Mother & Father of the year and the crowned Ms. Frenchtown. A weekend of food, music and dancing ended on Sunday with fishing tournaments, parades through the village and ball games.
